BREAKFAST APPLE PEAR ALMOND COMPOTE

GOOD FOR VATA – PITTA DOSHA

BEST SEASON : WINTER AUTUM SPRING

 

INGREDIENTS – For 1 Person

Apple – 1/2 large

Pear – 1 medium

Almonds – 5 pre-soaked overnight

Cinnamon – 1 pinch

Cardamom – 1 pinch

Nutmeg – 1 pinch

Almond Butter – 1 tsp

Coconut oil – 1/2 tsp

 

INSTRUCTIONS 

Wash, peel and cut the apple and pear in small pieces. Place pieces in a pot. 

Pour over enough water to just cover the fruits and bring to a boil. 

Lower the flame, add the spices, cover and let to simmer until the apples are soft. 

Use a mixer to purée the compote. Mix in the almond butter and coconut oil. You can also add a pinch of Himalayan rock salt, mix again. 

Leave to cool down.

Peel and cut the almonds in small pieces.

Serve the compote in a bowl and garnish with the almonds!

TIP 

As a general rule, add fresh spices near the end of cooking or just before serving, because prolonged heat can cause loss of flavor and aroma. Dried spices can generally be added earlier in the cooking process.
