HOW AYURVEDA WORKS

A sophisticated and powerful mind-body approach to health

Ayurveda provides a combination of Ayurvedic counselling, diet and lifestyle advice, herbal supplements, medicated oil and herbs applications. The three pillars of a successful Ayurvedic treatment include a holistic health diagnosis, identification of the root cause or origin of the disease and an individualised treatment plan.

1. HOLISTIC HEALTH DIAGNOSIS

First the practicioner identifies the patient's unique constitution (dosha) and evaluate its current state of balance. The practitioner arrives at diagnosis through physical examination, direct questioning of personal and medical history. Health diagnosis may include pulse diagnosis and tongue observation.

2. ORIGIN OF THE DISEASE

Why are we sick? When one understands the nature and structure of disorder, one can re-establish order. Ayurveda seeks to identify and understand the origin of the imbalance (nidana). The process may include an understanding of diet, professional life and working conditions, relationships, mental health and exercise routines.

3. BESPOKE TREATMENT PLAN

Finally the practitioner recommends an adequate line of treatment to help eliminate the imabalance and the root cause of the imbalance. Recommendations may include implementation of lifestyle changes; starting and maintaining a suggested diet, the use of herbs and oils and in some case purifying or balancing therapeutic massage treatment.
