apple prune compote constipation relief

This warm apple and prune compote is a simple Ayurvedic-inspired recipe made with gently cooked fruit, warming spices and a little ghee.

Soft, warm and naturally sweet, it can be enjoyed as a light breakfast or nourishing snack.

INGREDIENTS

For 1 person

  • 1 large apple
  • 2 dried prunes, pre-soaked
  • 7–10 raisins, pre-soaked
  • A pinch of clove
  • 2 small pieces of cinnamon
  • A pinch of cardamom
  • ½ tsp ghee, optional

METHOD

Wash, peel and cut the apple into small pieces.

Place the apple, prunes, raisins and cloves in a small pot and cover with water.

Bring to a gentle boil, then cover and reduce the heat. Simmer until the apple is soft.

Add the cinnamon and cardamom and stir in the ghee.

Allow to cool slightly, then blend to your preferred consistency.

Enjoy warm or at a comfortable temperature.
