Relaxing Mantra Meditation Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya

MANTRA MEANING

A popular 12 syllable mantra in the Hindu tradition for liberation and freedom. This mantra is dedicated to Vishnu and Lord Krishna (an incarnation of Vishnu).

I devanagari script the mantra is beautifully depicted as:

 

ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय

 

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya means “Om, I bow to Lord Vāsudeva or Lord Vāsudev or Lord Vishnu”.

  • Om : Refers to the Supreme Infinite Spirit.
  • Namo : Means salutations, worship
  • Bhagavate : God in Sanskrit or the one who is becoming divine. Refers to one who is on the spiritual path
  • Vasudevaya means “Life in all beings” Devaya means “God”. This means God(life/light) who lives of all beings.It refers to Lord Krishna.

It is believed that if devotees recite Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya daily, Krishna will stand by them and respond to the calls of their hearts immediately. Krishna is said to dwell within all beings, and reciting this mantra is therefore a means of attaining awareness of the Krishna consciousness within

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya mantra has balancing effects on physical and energetical levels promoting relaxation, wellbeing and innver-peace

Practice this mantra aligned with Svadistana Chakra – Sacral chakra located in the lower abdomen below the navel. The Sanskrit name translates to “one’s own dwelling.” It relates to  the emotional body, sensuality, and creativity.

In listening or soundin this mantra, we can connect to the qualities of Vishnu : preserver of humanity in a balanced yet powerful way.

 

HOW TO ?

Lying down, or sitting in a comfortable posture with straight back, sing along or just listen fully. Let the sound to fill your body and heart. You can pay particular attention to the sacral chakra and welcome the Vishnu energy protecting and maintaining the universe.
